Do you believe in taking risks? While I realise risks might not be for everyone, it’s my job as an Interior Designer to help those clients that fancy a few out-of-the-box ideas find a way to incorporate them into their child’s room. For some clients it may be a colourful patterned wallpaper, for others it may be using colours that may not be considered ‘traditional’ for a nursery or kids space.
One thing you may have discovered about me is that I am FAR from traditional. That’s not to say if that’s the style that puts a smile on your face that I can’t help you – I love adapting to my clients way of thinking, but I may just try to get them to push the envelope…. just a little bit.
A way to incorporate a few risks in a space is with the pieces that can easily be removed or updated (think cushions, bedding, accessories) – consider these a ‘safe risk’! But what about if you are wanting to make even more of a design impact? Spend your hard earned cash on these gems!
Colourful furniture pieces for nurseries and kids rooms are becoming hot property right now with retailers recognising that not everyone wants to stick with white or timber furniture. But what if these pieces don’t fit your budget? Consider repurposing old pieces (whether it’s pieces you already own, buy or thrift), there are thousands of amazing tutorials on the net these days that will take you step by step through upcycling!
Do you have bright furniture in your child’s room? Leave me a comment – I would love to hear from you!
